about me

meMy name is Anthony Ryan Mattke, but everyone calls me Tony, or just T. I’m a 29 year old geek who is cursed with his obsession with knowledge and strives to be a true polymath.

Until last year I was working as Senior Network Engineer for a WISP here in Indiana. Life there was pretty good, but now almost everyone I worked with has been laid off. Fortunately the opportunity of being funemployed always brings new adventures. These days, I do consulting work for a few places around the US, and I’m working on starting my own company.

Within the past year I have switched to Mac. And I’m pretty happy with the choice. I’m still a Linux advocate, as I have been using it since I first installed Slackware in 1993. Currently my web server, file server and router all run Linux based operating systems. ( Debian on the servers, ImageStream Enterprise Linux on the router )

Over the past couple months I have been focusing on acquiring my Cisco certifications. I already have my ImageStream ICNA and plan on acquiring my ICNE when they offer one. After about one and a half weeks of refreshing, I obtained my CCNA on May 4th 2009. I am currently finishing up my CCNP, I passed my Composite exam ( combines the BSCI and BCMSN ) on May 24th. Since then my consulting work has prevented me from studying for the last two exams (ONT and ISCW) but hopefully they will get taken care of fairly soon.

Some of my other hobbies include bowling, photography, saving babies from fires, r/c helicopters, finding new varieties of wheat beer, and keeping freshwater cichlids ( fish ).

If you wish to have a chat, try the contact form, if you’re impatient send me a tweet and I may share more, or you can look for me in #cisco on Freenode…
